The Peavey PVM 46 pvm46 is a higher end peavey mic that can be used for voice, drums, guitar amplifiers and other instruments. It's a dynamic microphone, meaning it uses a coil and magnet to produce the audio signal, that uses neodymium magnet in the mic element. This is a more powerful magnet that other magnets used in microphones. Because of this the PVM Diamond serires mics are more sensitive than other mics. The microphone diaphragm is coated with diamond emulsion which results in a better transient response over a greater frequency range. The PVM 46 has a frequency response of the 45Hz to 16kHz which is pretty darn good. It also has a maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level) of 140dB which makes it capable of withstanding some pretty loud sounds. You can use it on snare drums, guitar cabinets and even bass guitar.
